Capulla Foods Brand

A project made for DES 116 @ UC Davis

Overview: Crafting Brand Guidelines and packaging for the fictional brand Capulla Foods LLC.

Capulla Foods, a fictional company created by me, was invented to create designs that thought outside the box. This company aimed to create delicious, sustainable food products that has a twist in its ingredients. This company would focus on food products that contained some sort of insectoid ingredient. During the design process of this project, it would be found that Capulla Foods would focus specifically on Tortillas de Gusano Rojo — a tortilla whose salt has been replaced with the insect salt replacement known as Gusano Rojo.

Project Process

Project Intro

This Project was assigned to me within the University of California, Davis class DES 116 taught by professor Erik Hards. We were tasked with a quarter-long project involving a food brand whose main product involved insects in some way. We were to create a logo, brand guidelines, identity templates, and product packaging.

Create a Brand and Product Design that Effectively Incorporates Insects

The Assignment

Problem Space

Problem Statement: A brand who develops produce with an integration of insectoid ingredients wishes to flesh out their brand to be appealing to a mass market and appear more of a serious brand than a gag one.

Target Audience

This brand aims towards adults from the ages of 20 - 35 who are both familiar with Mexican cuisine and also willing to experiment with their food.

How might we provide a brand and product that provides a serious tone to generally non-serious alternatives to common ingredients.
