Ex Libris Design
A project made for DES 145 @ UC Davis
Objective: Design an Ex Libris book page in a modern and historical style.
The Ex Libris, a traditional book page found in old texts, are pages signifying the owner of a book. This was found most often in the era where books were not mass produced so owning one was a privilege. Because of this, owners often had special pages made with beautiful artwork to sort of leave a beautiful mark on the book they owned.
With this in mind, I was tasked in creating my own Ex Libris. I decided to make pieces dedicated and in reference to two different artists from pre and post 1900 eras. With the use of Clip Studio Paint to hand-letter the top image and Adobe Illustrator to create the clean vectors of the bottom image, I created two pieces to be proud of.
